In the madness of modern economics...
I just love this interview that Amy Goodman had with Manfred Max-Neef (Nov. 26 on Democracy Now!). I had never heard of this guy before this, but this interview really spoke to me because he talks all about the economy not being more important than the biosphere, and about how the very concept of unlimited economic growth is really an impossibility. And he's an economist. Someday, maybe, I'll be able to convince one single person that this is correct thinking.

DERP!
You know how Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX) is a bit of a moron, calling the $20 billion dollar fund that BP has to pay a "slush fund," and actually apologizing to BP chief Tony Hayward. We've all heard that. Trouble is, he's takes idiotic libertarianism to new heights, he swallows the corporate personhood pill whole, and he can't even come up with a term that hasn't already been trumpeted by all the stupidest pundits the right wing has ever seen (scope this Media Matters article). Also check out this Grist shakedown, which is rather good (and includes the full video of Barton's opening statement at the latest congressional session).
DERRRRRP.
